"It's all over for Brown and Labour" says Polly

Gordon Brown's chief apologist over the last few years has finally changed her mind! Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee, who has been a staunch defender of Gordon Brown through thick and thin, is now saying that he has failed and has to go. Today's piece is a grinding critique of Brown and Labour's failure on their much vaunted social justice agenda - the sub-headline above says it all.

In the latest reputable poll (Populus/Times), Labour are just 4% ahead of the Lib Dems (26% against 22%). If they fall much further, they will start to look like the third party in British politics like they did in the early 1980s. Strange times indeed.
